Sensei Gerard opened JKA Geelong Shotokan Karate Club with one goal in mind: empowering and providing students the best, most rewarding learning experience. JKA Geelong Shotokan Karate is a registered not-for-profit branch of the Japan Karate Association (JKA) of Australia Inc. and operates between 2 training locations in the City of Greater Geelong (Highton & Wandana Heights)

Benefits of Karate
Character Development
JKA Karate focuses on developing the whole individual; mind, body and sprit and thereby developing students to be the best possible person they can be.
Self Defence
Karate is a traditional Japanese system of self-defence where students train to develop techniques that enable them to protect themselves and others.
Fitness
By constantly practicing a range of techniques and exercises during training sessions, karate is a great way to keep fit and active during a busy week.
Access to State, National & International Events
As members of the JKA, students have the opportunity to compete in official JKA tournaments including the Gichin Funakoshi World Karate Championships and be qualified to attend high-level annual seminars held in Japan.
Recognition from JKA HQ in Japan
Local students will receive official recognition from JKA Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan as they progress in their studies and training in the Art of Shotokan Karate.
